Background

02

Increased Need for High-Performance Storage to Meet Increasing Demand

Dream Play switched to IXcloud, an OpenStack-based cloud service enabling efficient resource management by expanding and contracting virtual servers on cloud quickly and easily, as their operating servers gradually increased in number. Faced with the need to use more high-spec storage than what they had used, Dream Play fell into a dilemma regarding whether they should set up high-cost, high-performance storage equipment or seek an alternative.

What did KINX do?

03

Proposing High-Performance Volume Storage Service (Supreme Volume) with Reliable IOPS

For Dream Play, which was considering the introduction of high-performance storage equipment that came with a high price tag, KINX proposed Supreme Volume, a cloud-based high-performance volume storage service. Supreme Volume, built with SF2405, a scale-out all-flash storage from SolidFire, a company specializing in solid-state arrays, provides sufficient bandwidth and the minimum (3,000 IOPS) and maximum (12,000 IOPS) levels of IOPS (input and output per second) through the quality of service control feature. Uniform performance is guaranteed, even if thousands of applications in the system are operating simultaneously.

By adding the Supreme Burst Insurance, which is an add-on service, the maximum IOPS of the Supreme Volume can be instantaneously increased to prevent failures and maintain stable application performance in case of data input or output exceeding the maximum IOPS of the Supreme Volume.

Usage-Based Charges to Ease the Burden on Equipment Maintenance and Operating Costs

With the use of KINX’s Supreme Volume built with SolidFire’s high-performance storage equipment, Dream Play was able to reduce the cost of building the equipment directly and at the same time achieve scalability and pay only for the infrastructure capacity that they have used. By using the Supreme Volume, they were able to eliminate the financial costs associated with depreciation and management personnel as well as operating costs.
