Background

Reviewing Infrastructure Setup for Building New PoP in Seoul

RETN planned to establish a PoP in Seoul, Korea, after advancing into Tokyo and Hong Kong as a way to expand its network services to Asia. To this end, RETN wanted to find a service provider, through which it could interconnect with Korean ISPs and CPs and guarantee high-quality Internet infrastructure services.

03

Proposal of Reliable and Efficient IDC Service and Local Peering for Traffic Exchange with Major ISPs and CPs in Korea

As the sole neutral network provider in Korea, we first proposed local peering to RETN. Local peering is a service enabling mutual exchange of traffic with over 60 members based on a 1Tbps peering network capacity. Through this, RETN was able to interconnect with major ISPs and CPs in Korea through a neutral network and see an improvement in Internet quality. In addition to RETN, a number of multinational companies such as Alibaba, Microsoft and Limelight Networks are using our local peering service.
Then, we proposed our IDC service for RETN’s Seoul PoP. Located in the Seoul , our data centers provide a broad range of add-on services such as backup, security, and monitoring as well as a dedicated space for customer equipment for efficient service operation. Plus, it is staffed with full-time engineers to provide services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, making reliable service operation possible.

Successful Network Connection Between Europe and Asia at Reasonable Costs

By establishing a PoP in Seoul at KINX IDC, RETN expanded IP / MPLS backbone network connecting Asia and Europe.. This enabled RETN to provide a network between Europe and Asia to global companies based in either Europe or Asia and to customers conducting businesses in Eurasia or reviewing potential businesses in the region. Not only that, the company was able to cut infrastructure costs by exchanging traffic with ISPs and CPs on a settlement-free basis using our local peering service instead of transit.
