Casa, which was launched in 2002, is the No. 1 e-commerce platform and portal site in interior décor that is operated by Style Casa Co., Ltd. It offers practical and affordable interior décor items, products from the magazine, Casa Living and high-class lifestyle courses, thereby playing the role of a portal covering the entirety of the living and lifestyle field.
Background
Improving the Loading Speed of the Site Containing Over 10 Million Image Files
Casa, which handles more than 2.5 million products and magazine content, was servicing more than 10 million image files via an internal image server. A test performed to improve the service showed that there was an urgent need to improve the image loading speed, and thus they began considering the CDN cache service. After considering a number of CDN operators, based on service quality, reliability, and service fees, Casa decided to go with KINX’s CDN web/image transfer service.
What did KINX do?
Fast Web/Image Transfer (Caching) Service Using Edge Server
After a meeting with Casa, we proposed our CDN web/image transfer (caching) service. Through the CDN web/image transfer service, it was possible to temporary store numerous image files of Casa on an edge server and transfer them, which allowed visitors to quickly check the content on the Casa site anytime, anywhere. In addition, DNS propagation through CNAME delegation facilitated the caching process without any service interruption, and it was possible to distribute the traffic that had been concentrated on the existing internal servers.
Effect
Remarkable Improvements in Loading Speed and IDC Cost Reduction
KINX’s CDN web/image transfer service dramatically improved Casa’s web loading speed, thereby enabling the site to provide faster and more stable services to visitors. Also, by distributing the traffic that had been concentrated on the internal image server, the operational costs were also significantly reduced.
