Seeking Solutions to Build a Pitching Video Platform

The Korea Pitching Cultural Association was planning to create its own video sharing platform called i-Pitching as a way to promote the pitching culture and encourage job seekers and prospective entrepreneurs among young adults. Since it would be a video-based platform, it was necessary to apply a CDN for fast and uninterrupted playback, and a CMS was needed to make it easier for users to upload videos and simplify the work of administrators. In addition, it was difficult to predict the initial traffic, so there was a need to check whether a pay-as-you-go system would be better than a flat rate.

Proposal of Midibus®, Providing Excellent CDN and Convenient CMS

After assessing and identifying the needs of the Korea Pitching Cultural Association, we proposed midibus. midibus is a solution that provides all the functions necessary for a video sharing platform such as video upload, management, GPU encoding, and CDN in an integrated manner. What is particularly notable about this solution is that it supports web and FTP upload, which makes it more convenient to upload video content, and that it enables integrated management of encoded files and thumbnails required for video playback. Furthermore, we deemed it would meet the needs of the association, as it would provide a fast and reliable viewing experience for viewers at home and abroad and it would allow users to play videos on all types of devices with the built-in HTML5 player using the same URL.

While the Korean Pitching Culture Association tested the performance of midibus for 30 days through free BMT trial, we provided ongoing technical support, and after officially concluding a contract, we carefully prepared upload-related APIs to facilitate the application of midibus when building the platform.

Fast Content Loading Speed and Convenient Video Management

The first thing that the Korean Pitching Culture Association noticed after introducing midibus in its platform establishment project was the fast content loading speed. The videos on the platform loaded much faster and more seamlessly than they expected, and it was all thanks to the use of a powerful CDN network interconnected with major domestic and overseas ISPs. They were also satisfied with the convenience of managing the videos using the CMS feature of midibus such as unveiling a part of the video first by using the video access privileges.
