A Network for Direct Connection to IBM Cloud

IBM Direct Link

This is a service that improves Internet line transmission quality (throughput, latency), security and reliability, while reducing costs by constructing a private network between the customer’s service resources (on-premise, IDC colocation) and IBM Cloud Data Centers.

IBM Direct Link is recommended in these cases

  • To transfer large amounts of data between the service resources and IBM

    · Companies that generate and use big data
    · Companies that back up their data regularly

  • To ensure speed and stability in transferring data between the service resources and IBM

    · Companies that use a private cloud and IBM as a hybrid cloud
    · Companies where there is frequent communication between the on-premise resources and IBM

  • To cut network costs

    · Companies that are charged excessive IBM service fees
    · Companies where there are frequent data transfers between the service resources and IBM

Reasons for Choosing KINX’s IBM Direct Link

KINX offers the best connection environment to IBM through IBM Direct Link.

  • We are connected to IBM Direct Link over the shortest distance.

KINX IDC is an IBM network location and the IBM Direct Link Routers are situated within KINX IDCs.

  • You can select a KINX IDC located in the Seoul National Capital Area.

IDCs located in Dogok, Gasan, Bundang or Sangam are available

  • We provide all-in-one services from A to Z.

Initial consulting, network configuration support, a dedicated line between the customer’s company and our IDC, etc.

  • We provide diverse size of ports ranging from 50M to 10G.

    Select the port of your choice - 50M, 100M, 200M, 300M, 400M, 500M, 1G, 10G

  • We boast unparalleled competency when it comes to global network operation.

Korea’s First and Largest operator recognized by the world
Extensive experience in providing a network to major ISPs in Korea, global carriers from overseas, CPs and CDN operators

Configuration

  • Less Than 1G
  • 1G/10G

Networks with a capacity of less than 1G can be connected to IBM Cloud using the Direct Link Exchange. Direct Link Exchange provides connectivity at low cost by using KINX’s lines that are already connected. This service can be chosen when setting up a hybrid cloud or multi-cloud or when using the network for large data transmission and transmission quality management.

Colocation service (KINX IDC) + IBM Direct Link

Colocation at KINX IDC and IBM Direct Link services

Dedicated line + IBM Direct Link

IBM Direct Link service is provided by connecting the customer’s service resources (on-premise, colocation at another IDC) and KINX IDC via a dedicated line

A network with a capacity of 1G to 10G can be used by connecting it directly to the IBM PoP at KINX’s data center using DL Dedicated. DL Dedicated is recommended in case of high-performance workloads that require high throughput or when DL Exchange implementation conditions are not met.

Colocation service (KINX IDC) + IBM Direct Link

Colocation at KINX IDC and IBM Direct Link services

Dedicated line + IBM Direct Link

IBM DirectLink service is provided by connecting the customer’s service resources (on-premise, colocation at another IDC) and KINX IDC via a dedicated line

Advantages

Security

It is possible to protect critical business data by controlling all the network paths and avoiding exposure to the public Internet

Transmission Quality

Large amounts of data can be efficiently transmitted through a direct network connection, and stable transmission quality is ensured.

Backup/Storage

With a dedicated network connection, it is possible to back up or store large amounts of data at the data center quickly and reliably.

Cost

By using various port sizes ranging from 50Mbps to 10Gbps in speed, higher efficiency can be achieved at a lower cost compared to using a general line.

How to Use

1. Decide on how to use the IBM Direct Link

   - Less Than 1G: Direct Link Exchange
   - 1G / 10G : Direct Link Dedicated

2. Create an IBM Cloud account and request IBM DirectLink

3. Configure the detailed settings of IBM Direct Link with the person in charge at KINX

   - Select peering location (KINX, Bundang)
   - Select bandwidth (50Mbps~10Gbps)
   - Set the routing options (local/international routing)

4. Interconnect with KINX Cloud eXchange

   - Provide the necessary information such as Service Key(S-Key) and VPN ID to KINX
   - Provide information when configuring the routing environment

5. Connect to the service using IBM Direct Link
